A sizeable market town on the river Calder, which marks the historic boundary between Yorkshire and Lancashire. The town is home to the Incredible Edible project, run by volunteers who grow fruit, vegetables and herbs in public places around the town for everyone to share.
Set within a quiet, rural hamlet in the east Lancashire countryside, YHA Mankinholes is a former 16th century manor house perfect for walks in the nearby Pennine moorland. The Pennine Way and Calderdale Way are close by and you'll find an abundance of other footpaths, bridleways and packhorse trails to explore. The hostel enjoys excellent views and boasts a cosy lounge with a log burning stove, making it a favourite for those looking for a peaceful spot to relax after a long day on two feet.
