Middleton-in-Teesdale

Middleton’s two central streets are Horsemarket and Market Place, telling of the town’s farming origins. From the 17th century to the beginning of the 20th century it was a lead mining centre. Please note that there are no baggage transfers between Middleton in Teesdale and Forest in Teesdale. Overnight necessities must be carried and you will be reunited with your luggage the following night.

We also have a Visit England breakfast award and are part of their Walkers and Cyclists Welcome schemes. The house, a charming stone-built village home dating from 1760, is centrally situated overlooking the Market Place Green and Parish Church. Much of the original Georgian charm has been retained, with open fires and beams. Rooms are all en-suite, with quality cotton bedding and fluffy towels and bathrobes. Complimentary bottled water, fruit and homemade biscuits are provided. There is easy access to the Pennine Way. England's largest waterfall, High Force, is only a few miles away, as are the Bowes Museum, Eggleston Gardens, Raby Castle and Barnard Castle.

Leekworth Caravan & Camping Park boasts stunning countryside views and is set on the banks of the River Tees. The famous Teesdale Way cuts through the site, joining onto the Pennine Way and Middleton village centre, with its country shops and cafés only a 10-minute walk away.

The Quirky Quarry

Syke Cottage, Snaisgill Road, Co Durham, DL12 0RP - Pennine Way

The Quirky Quarry is a traditional, stone built-cottage located in the hamlet of Snaisgill, one mile from Middleton in Teesdale. We offer a free pick-up and drop off service for all walkers from the Teesdale Hotel in the village. In addition we also offer a free drop off and pick up service for walkers/cyclists wishing to eat in the village of an evening. All guests at the Quirky Quarry receive a 10% discount if they choose to eat at the Teesdale Hotel. Our B&B has two double rooms, a twin room and a Shepherd's Hut (double bed) in the walled garden. All rooms have en-suite facilities and have been recently refurbished to a high standard. All guests have use of the garden and barbecue area. We are located in an scenic tranquil location with stunning views of the area.
