Comments by walkers who stayed at Clove Lodge in Middleton in Teesdale on The Pennine Way
Stayed here during the Pennine way. The owners are very hospitable and provide you with a large bedroom, kitchen, dining room, and a lounge where you can relax whilst watching DVD's. The food is impeccable, I had chicken in red wine sauce. The only downside is that you can't chose your own food, but I wouldn't worry, everything was superb.

Just stayed here whilst doing the Pennine Way in a oner. Caroline and Chris are superb hosts. Food is top notch and plenty of it and you get your own lounge and DVD collection to watch. If you are doing the Pennine Way this is a MUST stay. It's actually ON the path. All 4 of us in our party were equally impressed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

One of the best B&Bs we stayed at. We had a delightful double room with adjacent bathroom in the adjoined cottage. Lovely tea and cake on arrival, excellent three course evening meal. Lovely lounge. Wonderful decor throughout, very friendly hosts. ENORMOUS and delicious breakfast. Really high-quality accommodation, made all the better for being on the route. Excellent value, especially given the lack of other options.

A fun place to stay with excellent food, including vegetarian food cooked to perfection. As the rooms were full when I tried to book they took pity on me and offered to put me up in a caravan in the barn (only two footsteps off the PW path!) for £10 plus meals at cost. It was the best night's sleep I've had in ages, so peaceful and a comfy double bed with a kettle for teas etc.. My 4 fellow walkers loved their rooms in the house; renovations are still continuing.

The house was being renovated when we stayed (August) but we had no disruption at all. We were welcomed with tea and cakes on arrival and we were very well fed. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we were generally made to feel more like long lost friends than customers! I would highly recommend this B&B.

When we stayed there the house was still being renovated but the welcome was wonderful (the first tea and cakes for some time) and the bedroom was very nice with an excellent en-suite.

Where they excel though is the evening meal which was fantastic. The lady of the house is such good entertainment itís worth staying here just to listen to her. Aug 2007
