Kettlewell is an attractive, decent-sized town right on the Dales Way, and offers a good choice of accommodation and places to eat. It is believed that the name Kettlewell is Anglo Saxon and comes from Chetelewelle which means a bubbling spring or stream. Signs of the farming methods of Romano-British and early medieval agriculture can still be seen in terraced fields to the north and the south of the village.
This welcoming award-winning gem of a hostel in the Yorkshire Dales village of Kettlewell is a real treat for those who stay there. There is a lovely, stylish dining room and secondhand bookshop, a comfortable lounge with a wood-burning stove and a beautiful garden for sitting out in the sunshine. As well as the spacious communal areas there are 11 bedrooms, sleeping up to 42 with a range of room sizes to fit any group. The hostel serves its own fantastic menu of home-made meals using the very best, locally-sourced produce, including the now famous 8-hour beef stew! For breakfast we offer our full Yorkshire breakfast, with locally-sourced ingredients, or a vegetarian full English. Alternatively, enjoy a hearty and healthy bowl of porridge. Vegan and gluten-free alternatives are always available, just let us know and we will do our best to help.
