4 miles south of the port of Whitehaven, St Bees is a village which extends inland from a broad sandy beach and the tall red cliffs of St Bees Head, a well-known reserve for seabirds. The historic abbey is now incorporated in St Bees School. There are several inns and small shops on the main street which runs uphill from the train station.
Stonehouse Farm is run by Carole Smith. Warm, friendly atmosphere in comfortable modern Georgian farmhouse, situated in centre of village, 30 metres from railway station and nearby pubs serving meals and bar meals, and 150 metres from village shops. All rooms are ensuite and centrally heated. All have TV & tea/coffee making facilities. Long stay Coast to Coast parking and camping available (contact for rates). The Manor is a well situated, comfortable country inn, providing high quality food and en-suite accommodation. 5.5 miles from St Bees, pick up and drop off available.We provide a self contained unit within our home - all rooms are en-suite and guests have use of a fully fitted kitchen. Rooms can be double or twin and bookings include a light, self-served breakfast. In the village there is a pub and it is a short drive to other pubs and restaurants. Group bookings including families are welcome, and we can accommodate between 6 and 8 people. Packages can include pick up from local stations, drop off in St Bees, packed lunches, bike storage is available in a secure garage and cars can be left until you return to the area for a small charge.
