Comments by walkers who stayed at FrenchGate 66 in Richmond on The Coast to Coast Path

Lovely stay, felt that we had broken the back of the walk and enjoyed the luxuary of Frenchgate. Little did we know that the next day would be one of the hardest walks. But having stayed in such a lovely place meant that we were relaxed and refreshed.

Probably some of the nicest rooms of our entire stay but would not recommend it as the warmth of the host was quite lacking. Of all our stays there was very little interaction with us. Refused to let us eat early breakfast...even though we just wanted cold cereal and milk before our long 23 mile day.. Quite unlike the Old Brewery where friends stayed and had the host offer to get up before 7 to fix breakfast so they could be on their way early. Would not stay again.

We found this one of the two best B&Bs on the route (after the one opposite the pub at Blakey ridge). Excellent decor, lovely welcome, fabulous bathroom for the downstairs room!

A house with noisy teenagers at the top of a steep hill. The kettle had dried flowers in it. No other problems but I would not stay here again. This became an expensive night's stay. Must add though to be fair, that the landlady tried to please, especially on arrival.
