‘The House on The Ridge’ grew from the discovery of lead in 1741, and over about 120 years 7,000 tons of ore were mined. You will be able to detect some slag remains on the disturbed ground as you cross the Crom Allt burn as you come into Clifton - the terrace row street which was where the miners used to live. There is a campsite by the river, with a good café / tourist shop, which makes a good retreat in bad weather. Further up ‘The Way’ you will pass the lower Tyndrum railway station, which is on the Oban line. The upper station in the village is on the Fort William line. The village is also on the bus route.
This b&b is situated just off the West Highland Way, close to the village centre and all amenities. Dalkell has received a three star grading from the STB. There are a choice of establishments in the village for an evening meal.
