This is the attractive end point on the East Loch Lomondshire road, and the West Highland Way continues along the Lochside. There are small beaches and secluded rocky peninsulas. You will find a lot of day trippers basking up here on a sunny day. There is another reason for alighting here from the West Highland Way: Ben Lomond (974m / 3,195 feet), the most southerly of Scotland’s Munros (peaks over 3,000ft). The ascent in reasonable conditions is a half day walk and fairly easy for normal mountain walkers. In season there are some ferries leaving from the pier which go up to Tarbet and Inverbeg on the west side of the Loch.
Rowardennan Lodge Youth Hostel sits in an idyllic location on the banks of Loch Lomond with its own jetty and panoramic views across the loch. The lodge offers a wide range of private rooms and comfortable shared accommodation with separate washroom facilities. Guests can opt for a continental breakfast, lunch or evening meal served in the dining room, or choose to prepare their own in the large, well-equipped self-catering kitchen. Please pre-book your meals.
