The famous bridge over the Orchy was built in conjunction with the military road in the 1750s. This was not one of the original droving stops because, until the bridge was built, the river was too ferocious to ford with cattle. There are trains and buses to Glasgow and Fort William. There is a good pub hotel which serves walkers.
Bridge of Orchy is - well almost literally a bridge, save for a few small houses scattered around it, and the renowned Bridge of Orchy Scottish highland hotel. A 4 star small Hotel of Distinction with award winning cuisine. The warmth, the welcome, the glow, the log fires, the ambience of the hotel strike you the minute you enter and are the perfect foil to the intensity of the surroundings. To be booked directly online.
