A pleasant, green village, serviced by buses from Glasgow, with good hotels and B&Bs. There’s a shop for groceries and a nice tea shop. Ceilidhs are held in the hotels at weekends and a local pipe band often plays in the square on Sunday afternoons. The land was owned by The Marquises of Montrose, one of whom lent Rob Roy £1000 for cattle droving. The small Clachan Inn is one of the oldest licensed pubs in the country.
The hotels quiet rural village location makes it irresistible as an alternative to the city for that quiet, personal, refreshing Scottish guest experience.
