Wooler is the largest settlement in the Cheviot Hills area, with a population of about 1950 and it has been a market town since the 13th C. The town endured frequent raids by marauding Scots between the 14th and 16th centuries and later suffered two disastrous fires, which accounts for the lack of pre Victorian buildings. Wooler remains the focal point for the Glendale and Cheviot area with a wide range of services.
A warm welcome awaits at the No1 High Street Hotel and Wine Lounge in the beautiful location of Wooler in Northumberland. Our lovely building is steeped in history and our fantastic quirky rooms are an ideal retreat after a long day walking in the Cheviot Hills.
