Situated in the Valley of the Jed Water, Jedburg is a perfect example of a medieval border town, being only 16 km/10 niles from the border itself at Carter Bar. It is an attractive small town and has been a 'Royal Burgh' for 700 years. Coming into the town from the south (you will be coming from the North) the visitor will pass the ancient Capon Tree and greeted by the majestic sight of the ruin of Jedburgh Abbey. This was founded in 1138 by David I for monks from Beauvais in France, it occupies a commanding position overlooking the river.
Medhon House is a 17th Century stone built house with a large secluded garden. All rooms have ensuite facilities and stunning panoramic views overlooking the Abbey, Castle and town centre.
