An industrialised seaside village with B&B and a pub set in the steep valley of the Kilton Beck. There is a steel works, a nice little beach at Cattersty Sands and a mining museum. The village grew up out of fishing and quarrying ironstone and there remains the mineral railway which runs along to the steel works. There is more accommodation, pubs and restaurants 1 and 2 miles inland at Loftus and Easington respectively.
