3 miles south of the route, Bardon Mill is a collection of hamlets situated on the northern slopes of the South Tyne Valley between Haydon Bridge and Haltwhistle. Bardon Mill itself is grouped around the railway station, and the Errington Pottery nearby has adapted from its former market to produce a range of traditional salt-glazed stoneware popular for the home and garden. Henshaw and Thorngrafton are older settlements, perched higher on the hillside and include some traditional Northumbrian bastle houses, some still inhabited. The village is close to some of the major Hadrian’s Wall sites.
The Inn is set amongst some of the most breathtaking scenery in England and stands in the shadows of Steel Rigg, without doubt one of the most dramatic parts of Pennine Way & Hadrian's Wall. The Twice Brewed Inn is close to all the main Roman sites - Vindolanda, Housesteads and the Roman Army Museum. Midway between Carlisle and Newcastle. Take the B6318 (millitary Road) which runs alongside Hadrian's Wall. The Inn is next to the Twicebrewed infomation centre.

Small peaceful hotel on the B6318 close to Pennine way and spectacular sections of Hadrian's Wall. Such is our proximity to Hadrian's Wall, that the 'vallum'(the ditch built 2000 years ago as part of the Hadrian's Wall's fortifications) runs right through our back garden here at Vallum Lodge.
