Garrigill

This peaceful little village is surrounded by hillsides filled with a honeycomb of lead mining tunnels. When times were hard for the local miners the tunnels provided a good place to hide from the king’s men after having been caught poaching the local game. Garrigil has a post office and some guesthouses which do excellent evening meals.

The Guest House is set in in a 300 year old stone built house which has also housed the village post office since 1862. Today both the guest house and post office remain an integral part of village life and have been run by the Bramwell family since 1965. The house is ideally situated in the heart of tranquil Garrigill and overlooks the picturesque village green. Although the house has undergone modernisation throughout the years it has still kept its character with some of the rooms retaining their original exposed beams. All roomsare immaculately presented and furnished as well as having heating and double glazing throughout. All of the bedrooms come complete with radio alarm clocks, hairdryers and tea/coffee making facilities.
