OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES

With the UK opening up for business we have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure our vans and drivers are ready to commence operation again and are pleased to announce our season start date of 21 July 2020.

To ensure the safety of our drivers and passengers on our vehicles we will adopting the following changes and putting in place new procedures.

How we will operate:

Drivers & Office Staff

  • We will monitor our own health, ensure we are fit and well to come into work
  • Drivers and office staff will have their temperatures checked each morning when entering the office
  • Hygiene protocol is set up in the office for when staff come into / go out of this space
  • Hands to be washed as soon as entering the building and throughout the day
  • Touch points in the office are wiped down throughout the day
  • Staff to make their own beverages, wash up and wipe down after use
  • Maintain social distancing when in the office and when with other drivers, accommodation providers

Bag Management

  • Drivers will be provided with antibacterial spray to use on bag handles before picking up.  We take no responsibility for any marks or staining that may occur.
  • Antibacterial hand gel will be given to drivers
  • Drivers will wear face masks when dropping off and picking up bags and when carrying passengers
  • It is NOT possible to keep bags apart during transit, but vehicles will be cleaned each day
  • Vans will be cleaned inside and out each day

Passenger Management & Client Responsibility

  • Accept that we are taking appropriate measures but cannot guarantee that you will not come into contact into a possible source of Covid-19 and we do not accept any liability or responsibility for any infections that may occur
  • If feeling unwell, passengers to not attempt to board the vans
  • Van passengers will have their temperatures checked before entering the vehicles. If a high temperature is displayed, we will wait  5 – 10 min and retest.  If still high, clients will be asked to make their own way to the closest hospital for further testing and seek medical attention
  • All clients are required to provide their own masks and carry hand gel
  • Passengers are required to have face masks in place before entering the van and to wear at all times whilst on the van
  • Once the bag handles are wiped down by our driver and placed in the vehicle passengers are not allowed to access
  • Passengers are to accept that they may be travelling on our vehicles with other walkers not in their party
  • For clients requesting a lift, we will now require 24 hours’ notice. This is subject to availability and you may be referred to a local taxi or bus company.
  • Clients and passengers to accept that some aspects of normal operational may be modified or not possible. For example there may be delays with extra time required to comply with different procedures with dropping off and picking up bags.

Be aware of the symptoms

Please be aware of the following and if you experience any of these symptoms, during the course of the trip, please immediately advise us.

  • Fever (>37.8 °C)
  • Persistent cough that is dry in nature
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste

During the course of your trip, your temperature may be checked by accommodation and service providers. If you have a temperature of greater than 37.8 °C you will be asked to follow Government and local authority health guidelines and may no longer be able to continue with your trip.

Accommodation

  • It is the clients responsibility to comply with guidance from properties that they are enterin. Sherpa Van has no control and will not be liable for accommodation procedures or compliance
  • B&Bs/hotels many not be offering the normal level of service, i.e. cooked breakfast could be a take away, room service or room only or in staggered timeslots if taken in the breakfast room
  • Clients should book evening meals as time slots may be required in restaurants

Whilst times have changed, on the trail you will naturally be self distancing and the pure pleasure of walking in beautiful landscapes will more than make up for the extra checks and procedures which are now commonplace. We are looking forward to delivering again and getting you back out onto the trails.

CORONAVIRUS: MESSAGE FROM OUR GENERAL MANAGER

Dear fellow travellers,

We want to inform you that the team at Sherpa Van are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation with your well-being as our highest priority.

We empathise with all of our travellers, suppliers and people of nations across the globe who are being impacted by this announcement as a result of COVID-19.

We have all been hugely impacted and we are working hard to save our industry and the communities we work with. We need to work together at this time to ensure recovery across the sector.

We will be contacting all affected travellers in order of departure date from Monday 16 March to discuss options.
