The hillside beneath your feet contains Standedge cutting, three miles of railway and canal tunnels linking Yorkshire and Lancashire. The railway is still used by Trans Pennine trains, though the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, the longest in the country at 5415 yards which was re-opened in 2000.
