This is a small village of attractive houses built out of the local grey limestone. It was once important, as it had the only parish church in Swaledale, St Andrews, which has Norman foundations.
A former Coaching Inn dating back to the 15th century, The Bridge Inn sits in the picturesque village of Grinton opposite the 12th century Church of St. Andrew, which is also known as the 'Cathedral of the Dale'. The Bridge Inn is well known for welcoming walkers, dogs, muddy boots and all!
