Comments by walkers who stayed at Priory Farm Camping in Grosmont on The Coast to Coast Path

Exceeded our expectations as first impressions were of a tired run down basic chain owned pub. Staff friendly and the food was simple but good - I had a veggie lasagne with green salad which was just what I needed after the days walk! Some of our group enjoyed playing Yorkshire darts in the bar... The fresh fruit salad for breakfast was extra special. The rooms were clean , warm and comfortable. We could see the steam trains through the window.

I had read the comments about the filthy kitchen area and overflowing bin from a previous reviewer but thought it may have been a one off or improved over time. However one year later we found similar conditions. The bin was overflowing, so much so that heaps of rubbish lay all over the floor around the bin, the toilet was smelly and the whole room (and toilet) required a good disinfectant. If you charge for facilities, no matter how basic, you need to adhere to some standards. I would not stay here again. Unfortuantely it seems to be the only camping in Grosmont.

Would not stay here again.
On night we did the very young farmers got totally drunk and had a party....noise all night which we could stand just about but then one of them got the quad bike out initially racing down the road next to the camping field but then started to race it through the camping field. In all honesty I have never been so scared in my life and subsequently reported it.
They came so close they rode over and flattened one of our tent pegs.....
Next morning there was no sign of them...looking in feed back book it had happened before also at a weekend...so beware if you stay over a w/e.

So I knew it was only basic facilities (toilet and sink) but wasn't prepared for the filthy camping room that these were in - it was piled high with rubbish and old bits of food. The sink was also seperate to the toilet (and in the food preparation area) so you couldn't have a wash in it. Was very thankful for the wetwipes that night and would avoid this campsite if at all possible.

Good value, decent camping.

Basic kitchen

No obvious showers though, and no-one around to ask.

Very welcoming and excellent value. Field wasn't ready for use after re-seeding when we arrived but no problem, we were offered the back garden! Nice good value breakfast. We forgot our sandwiches but Nina chased after us in the pickup to give them to us! Camping room with toilet and sink etc is a good touch. Recommended.
