Comments by walkers who stayed at New Inn in Appletreewick on The Dales Way
First stop on our Dales Way hike April 2019. Lovely old pub with excellent Black Sheep beers and hearty meals. Rooms seem to have been recently refurbished and were most comfortable. Shower good also. The landlady was very friendly and cooked a fine breakfast. Would definitely return.

Comfortable room with a good shower. The excellent dinner and breakfast were served in the pub surrounded by wonderful old woodwork and décor. The pub closed by about 19:00 so there was no noise the rest of the night.
We arrived right at the dinner hour around 18:30 when the only other pub in town had closed at 16:00. This meant that the New Inn was crowded with customers and the owners were not able to check us in right away. The owners were very apologetic for our wait. We would recommend other walkers arrive earlier than dinner time.

There is little other choice in this village but the accommodation is nothing special. Our bathroom was very recently refurbished but elsewhere was tired. Food was reasonable but the welcome was lacking. This pub should not be your first choice if you are looking for a bit of quality.

great place to stay - very very comfortable luxury accommodation.
Breakfast was really beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our chat.
Would happily recommend this as a good place to stay even if you are not walking the dalesway. Just to sit on the terrace and watch the garden is so beautiful.

Could not recommend. The room was adequate but the shower (not ensuite) did not work and the food was barely edible. Poor value.

We stayed at The New Inn after our first part of the walk. The food was excellent as was the welcome ,but the accomodation was basic but comfortable, although we were disappointed to find there was no TV in the room. At the end of a days walking all we felt like doing was relaxing whilst watching TV , this would have also drowned out the noise from the bar below. Also the shower was dirty and I was unable to use it. This combined with no TV made me feel that this room was over priced.

The staff were sullen, unfriendly and unhelpful. Our room was unclean, no towels, out of date milk on the refreshment tray, and the most uncomfy bed. Asked for an early breakfast 8.00am could only do 9.00am which was eventually served at 9.30am. A gentleman asked for poached eggs no chance. Cooked breakfast only. An unpleasant experience.

First night stop after leaving Ilkley. Comfortable, friendly, good food and drinks.

19/3/10...Excellent selection of beer. Good quality food at a fair price. Clean rooms. Just what is needed after a pleasant walk from Ilkley.

May 23rd - 1st night of dales way, lovely pub with good food and beer. NB. if you are vegetarian please mention this as otherwise you will be served a full english breakfast - no orders were taken.

Stayed here May 2009 with kids. Nice airy rooms not en-suite so old-fashioned guest house feel. Good evening meal with £10 off bill. Lovely front beer terrace with valley views. Breakfast was 9 and a bit fraught.

We had a lovely room here, although there was no TV (this didn't matter much, as we were quite happy to spend the evening in the great bar downstairs). The pub food here was very good, and there was a great selection of bottled beers as well as some good real ale on draught. £20 was added to the price of the double room, and then we were each given a discount of £10 on the evening meal from the bar - this was a little confusing at first, but didn't bother us much as there aren't exactly many other places to eat in Appletreewick! Breakfast wasn't available until 9am, which annoyed us a little, since we had a long way to walk that day. We were eventually given a beautiful cooked breakfast, but really would have preferred something more basic with an earlier start.

Stayed 10.08.08. Nice comfortable room. Great views and not far off the walk. Very good lunches and evening meals. A nice friendly place. Breakfast only reasonable, but would stay again.

A dog-friendly establishment, the New Inn has a great selection of excellent beers and serves good food. Although our room was not en-suite, it was large and the king size bed was very comfortable. After a peaceful night's sleep, a good full English breakfast sets you up for the next stage of your walk.

Great place to stay, old inn, spacious room although not ensuite. Would stay here next time again.

The New Inn was rightly recommended by our B&B hosts and so we ate, but didn't stay here during our Dales Way walk. The good value, very tasty food came in huge portions and the real chips were a treat and no surprise to notice that most people couldn't manage a pud.

This is an excellent first night stop-over. Food accommodation and welcome could not be better.

It has recently changed hands and the information on the website is out of date(still true about the beers). It would be worth checking the details about meal times(more extensive) and room rates.

By the way, the track leading from the Dales Way path directly to the front door can be used by the public.

Great location , accomodation and food but didn't expect to be awake and listening to the noise from the bar at 12.30am , especially on a Monday

I'm too old to be told off for not staying for dinner the previous night (never said I would!)
An unfriendly place that I wouldn't stay in again.

Great News!!! New landlord and lady, who are very hospitable. The beers are great the food excellent and once they have finished modernising the property it will be the in place to stay. We will be going back again.

We booked a room with a quoted price of £58.00. (and as shown on the internet)
We sent a £20.00 deposit leaving a balance of £38.00.
When we went to pay we were charged £56.00, making a total for the room of £76.00.
We were given no reason for this extra charge, only that this was the price we had to pay.
Very disappointed !

Next stop was Appletreewick. A charming, helpful host but the New Inn itself is just far too expensive for the standard offered. The solution is to raise the standard, not just drop the price. And by this I am not just referring to shared bathrooms. The whole place needs renovating (it can be done whilst still retaining the charm).

Had a few drinks and lunch here, an excellent hostelry along the way
