Comments by walkers who stayed at Fairfield House in Bowness and Windermere on The Dales Way
We stayed here for two nights in Sep 2016 after completing the Dales Way. A lovely guest house at the end of the walk and a short distance from the centre of town.

Unfortunately we had one of the smaller (cheaper) rooms which was very tiny and had no room for us to lay out our suitcases and gear. This did detract from our stay. However, we did manage to glance into some of the other rooms and they looked lovely and spacious. There was also a lovely garden.

Our hosts were friendly and provided a very good breakfast.

We arrived on 19th May 2013. This hotel was lovely, we really finished our walk in style. The room was spacious and luxurious. The breakfast was really nice, they even had gluten free bread. We would love to stay here again, soon.

Outstanding place to end the Dales Way. We had some seriously bad weather for most of our walk (although the last day was fine), and were exhausted and disgustingly dirty. I had also picked up a painful injury in the final leg of the walk. So finding the Fairfield 100m from the finish line was an enormous relief. They upgraded us to their nicest room, with the jacuzzi tub and gorgeous gigantic bathroom. We didn't partake of cooked breakfast, since we weren't going to be walking another 12 miles that day, but the buffet of yogurt, fruit, muesli and toast was great. Cooked breakfast options looked delicious. The owners are incredibly welcoming and friendly. I wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended. Excellent value.

Certainly an excellent location -right at the end of the Dales Way and only a couple of minutes into Bowness. Good room with an excellent bathroom with power shower. Breakfast very good. A lovely, peaceful, secluded but neglected garden -Yvonne would love to become their gardener!

Left our car there and the host kindly gave us tea while we were waiting for the taxi. When we arrived back at the end of the walk - and we were glad to see the hotel right there at the end of the Dales Way- had very good service and comfortable rooms.
Highly recommended.

I am advised that this guest house has a 2 night minimum stay policy at week-ends which is probably not much good to those of us wishing to walk the Dales Way

I would highly recommend The Fairfield. Very comfortable indeed and a very warm welcome. This is the perfect place to finish your walk. We shall certainly return.

We stayed in a superb en-suite room power shower and jacuzzi bath! Wonderful, peaceful gardens. Spacious and spotlessly clean.

Very nice place. Caution: As you are entering Bowness, it is on the left - we blew right past - the sign is most obscure. Good rooms, fine breakfast, friendly host, spacious parlour for reading.

Tea in the garden was like being in an oasis, away from the crowds in Bowness. Highly recommended
