Comments by walkers who stayed at 9a Forest Cottages in Brompton-on-Swale on The Coast to Coast Path
Dorothy is a really helpful, interesting and friendly lady. She picked us up and gave us a lift back to our chosen point on the path the next day as well as taking us to her local pub and negotiating the early bird discount price 'special' for her not so early guests (well it is a long way from Reeth!). She shared our table and we loved talking to her. So glad we split the Vale of Mowbray Reeth to Ingleby walk here rather than attempting the whole thing or going on to Danby. Excellent breakfast. Small bedroom, but if you travel light that's no problem.

Mrs Smith is still going on her own. She collected us from Danby Whiske and then took us to the pub as she no longer does dinners. I wonder how uch longer she will be able to carry on and when she does hang her up her tea towel, the Coast to Coast will be poorer for it.

Robin sadly passed away earlier this year, but Dorothy is still doing a good job on the B&B front. She's welcoming, cooks a good hearty feast (incl wine) and a sound breakfast. The room is comfortable and clean. The bathroom is large, but only a bath with handheld shower rose. There's no tv so be prepared for a chat - Dorothy's a fascinating lady so there's no problem there!

Dorothy and Robin were the most welcoming and friendly hosts any tired walker could ask for.
We were doubly fortunate as their neighbour was away so we were allowed to stay in his house! Dinner with Dorothy and Robin was a delight. Mouth watering food that even my fussy son wolfed down. Very interesting couple. A real highlight of our trip.

This B&B place is worth to visit. There is a nice welcome with tea and cake and a good evening meal with a nice conversation afterwards.

Not on C2C route but collected from Bolton by friendly owner. Welcomed into their compact cottage home and gave up their bathroom for us. Fantastic dinner - home grown veg and fruit, a real treat.
