Cleveland Way
Companion by Paul Hannon
This pocket pictorial guide is strongly
bound and backed in a weather-resistant cellophane cover. It's small
enough to hold comfortably in one hand. The illustrations are skilfully
hand-drawn.
In his Introduction Hannon outlines the area circled by the walk,
concluding that "Cleveland Way" is a fair enough name since it
walks round the edge of the former Cleveland County and along the cliffs
of the ancient "Cliff-Land". He gives a broad outline of the
points of interest along the route, including abbeys, castles and a
fascinating industrial history.

Cleveland Way plus
Tabular Hills Link by Martin Collins
This is a hand-sized pocket guidebook. Its colourful backing is quite thin
laminated card and will need to be handled carefully during your walk. The
guide covers the walk through the Tabular Hills between Scalby Mills and
Helmsley which nowadays enables you to extend the Cleveland Way into a
complete circuit of the North York Moors.

National Trail Guide:
Cleveland Way by Ian
Sampson
Published in association with the Countryside Commission and the Ordnance
Survey, this book calls itself the 'official' guide to the Cleveland Way.
The
route is divided into 9 sections. Each one starts with good clear
route-finding instructions. They are written in the context of the
accompanying 1:25,000 OS maps. The text contains reference numbers and
letters to features of the walk to be identified on the maps. Working
together in this way, text and map provide route-finding that you can feel
comfortable with.

Ordnance Survey Outdoor Leisure
Maps
Scale
1:27,777; 3.6cm to 1km; 2¼ inches to 1 mile
The Cleveland Way is covered by two Ordnance Survey Outdoor Leisure maps,
scaled 1:25,000. They are sheets 26 and 27. The maps are printed both sides,
and this scale allows you to navigate in great detail; walls and hedges are
shown, for example.
The Cleveland Way is marked in green diamonds, though this is not true for
the Tabular Hills link. Note that you will also need Landranger Sheet 101
for the route between Scarborough and Filey.
