 About Tyndrum There is a cafe here. There is a bus stop here. There is a railway station here. 
 
The village: ‘The House on The Ridge’ grew from the discovery of lead in 1741 and over about 120 years 7000 tons of ore were mined. You will be able to detect some slag remains on the disturbed ground as you cross the Crom Allt burn as you come into Clifton; the terrace row street which was where the miners used to live. There is a campsite by the river, with a good cafe / tourist shop ,which makes a good retreat in bad weather. It does some very binding puddings and you could try, a bottle of ‘Heather Ale,’ an interesting beer brewed to a traditional Pictish recipe. Further up ‘The Way’ you will pass the lower Tyndrum railway station which is on the Oban line. The upper station in the village is on the FortWilliam line. The village is also on the bus route.

This b&b is situated just off the WHW, close to the village centre and all amenities. Dalkell has received a three star grading from the STB. There are a choice of establishments in the village for an evening meal.

On approaching Tyndrum village, you will pass a wooden bridge over the river which leads to the West Highlander (Pine Trees) camp site which is also the Travel-lite depot. Do not cross the bridge but instead continue on the WHW. passing through a small group of houses and then you will reach a small road. Turn right and walk up the road for a short distance until you reach Dalkell on the left hand side of the road. As indicated above, the West Highlander (Pine Trees) is the depot.

Glengarry House is a friendly and comfortable Guest House situated between Crianlarich and Tyndrum where Loch Lomond, the Trossachs National Park and the breathtaking Scottish Highlands meet. Tyndrum is on the A82, the road North to Oban and Fort William. There are excellent facilities in the village including pub, restaurant, fish and chips cafe, petrol station, mini market, cash machines and two railway stations. We are centrally located which makes Glengarry ideally situated for hiking, munros, cycle touring, canoeing, mountain biking, golfing and walking the West Highland Way (WHW). It is also an excellent base for touring by car or motorcycle.
