Fort William’s bustling town centre has transport facilities, shops and accommodation of . There are all the normal “Highland Kitsch” shops selling furry haggis and Loch Ness Monsters; but you will also find three excellent outdoor shops (two near the railway and one in the high street). The Nevis Sports shop has a very good book section as well as a busy cafe. The town has a markedly diverse character; it is a regional service centre, industrial town, and tourist resort. If you have time to spare, a visit to the West Highland Museum off the High Street can be recommended, both for its intrinsic interest, and as further background to your walk on the West Highland Way.

On arrival at the end of the Way, you will be at the Glen Nevis roundabout. Walk towards the town centre and you pass a swimming pool on your left hand side (Lochaber Leisure Centre). Take the first left after the pool, walk for a distance up the hill and you will see Guisachan in front of you.
