About Corbridge
Pleasant River Tyne spanning village, built on a Mediaeval plan with 8th Century origins There is a fortified Pele tower which reflects the days of Scottish raids. The bridge over the Tyne dates back to 1674. There is a railway station, pub and the interesting “Forum Bookshop.” Nearby is the impressive English Heritage site of Corstopitum, a Roman fort dating back to A.D 79. (+4 miles off route)
