Although Kington is on the west side of the Dyke it has been an English town throughout the border struggles. There was a Saxon settlement on the castle hill, but the modern town is of 13th century origin. Local historian Ken Reeves offers guided tours of the town on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons during the summer. He will show you the 19th century Market Hall details and point out details such as the keystones to the windows of the supermarket - each has the face of a farm animal.

We are situated in the historic Market Town of Kington in West Herefordshire on the border with Wales. Castle Hill House is conveniently situated on many walking trails such as the Offa's Dyke. ​Walkers are always welcome. For those rainy days, we are more than happy to dry your wet clothes and muddy boots, ready to start your next day's walk dry and comfortable again. We even offer baggage drop off's. We accommodate free parking. We pride ourselves as being an eco friendly bed and breakfast. Castle Hill House is mostly self-sufficient in energy. Solar thermal panels heat the water in summer months. The log boiler provides heat and hot water in the winter months and our PV panels provide daytime electricity.
