Hawkesbury Upton is the bigger village along the road where you are likely to find accommodation. Hawkesbury is an appealing hamlet, whose St Mary’s Church has a Norman doorway. There is a monument to Lord Liverpool, who was prime minister at the time of the Battle of Waterloo.

The 18th Century building was originally a coaching inn, but today is a typical village pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The large historical skittle alley has been converted into a 60 cover restaurant, boasting a beautiful artwork along one wall, specialising in local, seasonal fayre. There are four tastefully decorated en-suite bedrooms. It stands close to the Cotswold Way and the Somerset monument in ideal walking country.
