| About Brough
A historic market town that dates back to Roman time, and was actually larger in mediaeval times than it is today. Brough today has at its heart the Golden Fleece Inn. Just across the road is the Castle Hotel at the back of which can still be seen numerous stables reflecting its importance as a coaching stop.
Once the coaching days were over the buildings housed the horses working in the local lead and barytes mines.
Brough offers a special look back in time where history has left its mark for visitors to explore and enjoy.
