Perhaps most familiar to many as the location for many scenes in the TV series `All Creatures Great and Small`. The former main road from Richmond to Lancaster used to pass this way but now, Askrigg has been left as a quiet backwater. The church dates from the 15thC, while attractive houses from the 17th, 18th and 19thC make its winding streets a delight to explore. At the height of its prosperity it was a centre for lead mining and wool.
