About Sedbergh
Here the landscape looks more like the lake district as Sedbergh stands at the gateway to the Lake District, at the foot of the Howgill Fells. The village and the fells make an excellent diversion from the Dales Way. There is a broad main street with alleys leading off it containing some wonderful old houses including one in Weaver`s Yard where an old house contains the massive chimney where Bonnie Prince Charlie is claimed to have hidden in 1745. Like Dent, Sedbergh grew rich on the Wool trade and you will find campsites, B&B and hotel accommodation.
There are shops, banks and of course the ubiquitous ale houses.
