The settlements of the Upper Borrowdale consist of a number of discrete hamlets as well as scattered farms and cottages. Each hamlet has some B&B accommodation; in addition there are hotels in Rosthwaite (2) and in Stonethwaite, where evening meals can be obtained at the bar, and a restaurant in Seatoller. There is a youth hostel at Longthwaite. There is a very basic National Trust campsite at Stonethwaite. The only shop is in Rosthwaite (with post office), which
also has a small tea-room.
