This village is picturesquely situated on a quiet side road in the midst of beautiful Borrowdale, a mile or so up valley from the head of Derwentwater lake. There is B&B and farmhouse accommodation as well as a cafe (useful for its loos as well as for a coffee or lunch stop). Farm camping is available. There is a public phone in the village.
