 About Whitehaven

This a small Georgian town, which was the third busiest port in England during the mid 18th century. There is a convenient slipway on the harbour from which to dip your bike wheel in the Irish Sea at the start of the route. The town offers a busy centre with good shopping, unique history, impressive architecture and an abundance of activities in and around the town. There are plenty of places to eat in the town, and no shortage of B+Bs close to the C2C route. There is a Tourist Information Centre in Whitehaven, tel: 01946 695678.
