Rookhope

We specialise in overnight accommodation for cyclists on the famous coast to coast cycle route. We are a private secluded family home with it's own gardens and residents lounge, with open log fire, for our guests to relax in.

Situated in the beautiful Weardale Valley, the Rookhope Inn provides Home Cooked Food, accommodation & Real Ale. Price includes Dinner B & B @ £34 per person. Cyclists are welcome to make use of our well equipped workshop should their machines require fettling, and we have one bicycle for loan should anyone be unfortunate enough to suffer terminal mechanical failure. Rookhope is a popular second night stop for those taking three days to complete the Coast To Coast. After a steep climb out of Allenheads a 5 mile downhill run deposits the cyclist at the door of the Inn. Day three then starts with the last climb of the trip, followed by about 40 miles downhill to Tynemouth or Sunderland.

Swallow’s Rest offers a self-contained, one bedroom cottage that can sleep up to 7adults. The cottage consists of a fully equipped kitchen, living room with TV, DVD player, drying facilities and space to sleep 3adults, a single bedroom with bunk beds for sleeping 4 and a shower room, all decorated to a high standard. A full English or Continental Breakfast is provided as a self-catering hamper where you can cook the food at your convenience. Swallow’s Rest is located 0.5 miles from the C2C route and provides a secure lock up for cycles and equipment.
