West Winds is an old stone cottage in an attractive and peaceful village at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We aim to make staying at West Winds more than just a bed for the night. When you arrive, we provide a complimentary pot of tea and home-made cake in our tearooms. Maybe you’d like to try some of our classic Yorkshire curd tart, a West Winds speciality made from an old family recipe. And in your bedroom you’ll find fresh flowers, a complimentary box of Yorkshire-made Whitaker’s chocolates and a help-yourself bowl of organic fruit. In the morning we serve a choice of breakfast options, including a full cooked breakfast (English or vegetarian), home-made beans on toast and a selection of Yorkshire cheeses, all served in our tearooms at a table set with bone china on a hand-embroidered cloth. There’s so much beautiful countryside to explore around Buckden and Upper Wharfedale that West Winds can provide a great base for a long weekend or short break. Our position on the Dales Way, Inn Way and Lady Anne Clifford Way also makes the location just right for a one-night stop. In our tearooms we serve Lunch, Afternoon Tea and High Tea or Early Dinner (last orders 6pm in summer), so our guests don’t have to look far for somewhere to eat. We offer home-cooked specialities that combine Yorkshire tradition with local, seasonal, organic and Fairtrade ingredients wherever possible. Most things are home-made here at West Winds. Our menu includes Yorkshire puddings filled with Dales lamb hotpot, grilled Yorkshire gammon, local Dales cheeses, home-roasted Yorkshire ham, haverbread and a range of very tempting cakes. You can relax in the tea-garden in warm weather, or warm yourself by our log fire inside when it’s cold. We are open for bed and breakfast throughout 2011. Our tearooms are open daily, except Monday and Tuesday, from 1 April until the end of October, from 12.30pm to 6pm.

Our 18th century pub is architecturally beautiful both inside and out. We are well known both locally and by the many visitors from all over the world, for the excellence of our award winning service, facilities and fayre. An extensive menu is available and offers everything from a satisfying pub snack to a full selection on the A La Carte menu and Specials Board; all served in the comfortable and welcoming bar or Courtyard Restaurant. Our ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible, from the finest growers and farmers in the area.
