Property type: Guesthouse Accreditations: ETB 4 Diamond |
Leave the main road and travel alongside Ponden reservoir towards the moors, and you escape the stress of the 21st Century for the peace of another era.
Built on the site of the 16th Century 'old house and barn', Ponden House offers comfort and tranquillity in a secluded setting. Here local craftspeople have blended reclaimed materials with traditional skills and imaginative design. Old and new come together to provide a unique atmosphere, where Brenda Taylor, family and friends offer a warm, relaxing Yorkshire welcome to guests from near and far.
The house provides an escape from television. Books, games and a recently retuned piano are available.
The large dining table is laid out for breakfast which includes fruit juices, cereals, frsh and stewed fruits, yogurt, cooked dishes, toast and home-made jams and marmalades, ground coffee or a selection of teas.
Meals - (I am still very happy to provide evening meals for groups, please book in advance. Otherwise if you wish to contact me the week before your arrival to see which nights I may be cooking, please do. For walkers too tired to go out, I could provide a simple supper). I have enjoyed providing evenng meals for guests for almost fourty years, however now wish to reduce the number of evenings I am cooking. There is a local pub half a mile away, another two miles away and Haworth (three miles) has an excellent variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs.
Reservations can be made by email or telephone and confirmed in writing accompanied by a £20 deposit per room payable to B. Taylor (unless booked by Sherpa). Please include your return address and mobile number. No facilities for credit cards.
Allergy sufferers: we do have a cat.
