Comments by walkers who stayed at White House Farm in Crowden on The Pennine Way
A very good B and B and being a farm, wet muddy walkers were no problem. Room was very clean, a good size and comfy beds. We stayed in the main house and the bath was beautiful with loads of piping hot water, just what you need after a very long, wet day. Breakfast was OK but a little plain.
Our wet clothes were completely dried out overnight, again being a farm, this seemed a natural thing to deal with which canít be said of everywhere you stay. Pick up from the path worked well and a reasonable price which probably only just covered cost of petrol. I donít understand earlier comments about a long way to the pub. The Peels Arms is literally a couple of minutes walk and very good food with prompt service.

Bit of a way off route but they`ll pick you up and drop you back by car for a small fee.
Little impersonal but efficient.
Tw/bd. room small when accom/g 2 lots of kit.
Pub in the village only OK.
Good breakfast.

For most people this will be their first night, after a traumatic first day's walking, but the White House puts everything right. The owners could not have been kinder or more welcoming. The bedroom and the en suite bathroom were vast, and clearly newly installed. The breakfast was excellent. If there is a draw back, its a long way to the pub,

It is difficult to get psyched up to leave for Standedge the following day!

On arrival, I was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from Mrs Wynne. I was shown to my room and was impressed by the facilities. After a good night`s sleep, I woke to scenic views. Breakfast, being an important meal for a walker, was wonderful, cooked to my own satisfaction. Would certainly recommend White House Farm - I try to stay away from pubs when taking myself off for the weekend as I find family run B&B`s more value for money and certainly more relaxing.
