| I have to say that we were not greated with the warmest of welcomes. We were instructed to also read a pile of 'safety' literature that was left on each bed. Most of the instructions were to do with the bathroom, which is a serious accident waiting to happen. The door opens and the stairs are cut halfway into the door opening, so that you have to side step to stay on the floor, otherwise it's a great tumble down a very steep and narrow set of stairs. This could easily be changed by moving the door a little further along the hall, perhaps loosing some space in one of the bedrooms. Is having the revenue from 3 small bedrooms and one dangerous bathroom more important that two decent bedrooms and a safe and usable bathroom?? Also, the bathroom consists of one tiny tub with no shower apparatus. In the morning we were left standing in a very narrow hall, waiting for the breakfast room to open. Suddenly the door opened, Lynn (I think that's her name) turned on the lights, closed the door and didn't offer for us to come in sit while she continued her prep for breakfast. To top it off she never even said, | |

| From the welcoming Tea and cakes to organic food and chocolates left on the pillow. This made for a very enjoyable stay. One place to return to again. | |

| Stayed here with my son in July. Friendly hosts and good, clean accommodation. The home made cake and food was really good. Ate at the local cafe which was OK. | |

| This was our third stop on the dales way. As previously mentioned the tea and cake on arrival was very welcome. And what a cake!! The rooms, are clean and comfy with the added touch of fresh flowers and chocolates. We ate at the cafe/restaurant in the village at night due to the pub being closed - but what a find. Fantastic food and an excellent host in Gordon - do check it out. We started our third ( and longest) day following an ample breakfast, and the packed lunches supplied really kept us going. Very pleasant hosts in a lovely setting. | |

| We stayed at the West Winds last weekend following a walk from Buckden on the Dales Way. The free tea & cakes upon arrival were a really nice touch, as were the chocolates, fresh flowers, & fruit in the bedrooms. Whilst not en-suite, there was no problem with ample hot water. Beds were comfortable. The breakfast was superb, it set us up for the next days walk. The welcome we received was superb from all the staff, & we would thoroughly recommend the West Winds as a place to stay. | |

| We stayed here last week, 2nd night of our Dalesway walk. Very welcome reception with cake and coffee/tea. The extra touches were lovely, chocs on the pillow, loads of soaps etc in the bathroom, books and magazines. Very warm andd comfortable and an excellent breakfast, good value. We had a good meal in the pub next door too. Would definitely recommend! | |

| I stayed at West Winds Cottage on 2nd April 2008. I was made very welcome and the home made cake and coffee on arrival were great. I had an excellent meal at the pub next door followed by a good choice of breakfasts the next morning. The complimentary chocs were very much appreciated and were a lovely touch. I have every intention of returning to the tea rooms in the not too distant future with my friends. It is well situated for the Dales Way and I would thoroughly recommend staying at West Winds - be prepared no orange mobile signal (but wander back to the bridge and you will get one) | |

| Lovely B&B - the room was delightful, and the complimentary chocolates were delicious. Lynn was very welcoming and kind, and offered to dry our wet things. Good breakfast, served in the tea rooms, would have liked to stay on for another night. | |

| Enjoyed a lovely stay at West Winds Cottage on 24.6.07. The tea and cake offered on arrival were a welcome touch. The room was clean and very comfortable and it was great to be able to have a bath after a day walking 'The Dales Way'. I enjoyed an early evening meal in the tea rooms. The breakfast set me up for what was to be the wettest day of my Dalesway walk and I was glad of the lovely packed lunch that Lynn provided for me. I will definitely be back. | |

| A delightful B&B. The welcome tea and home made cakes were much appreciated. We also decided to eat in the Tea Room which Lyn has started to keep open until 6.30pm. Her Giant Yorkshire Pudding with Dales Lamb Hot Pot was to die for topped off with Rich Brandy Fruit Cake and a piece of Wensleydale cheese as afters. We will certainly consider returning to West Winds both to stay or for a meal as we pass through Buckden. | |

| A very comfortable stopover with a real welcome from Lyn. The twin room is a tight fit but comfortable and the breakfast was the best cooked of all the breakfasts that week. Lyn doesnt do meals on a Monday and we had to go to the Buck Inn which had all the hallmarks of Fawlty Towers. | |

| I stayed at West winds on 7 May, arriving mid-afternoon after a dampish walk from Grassington. A very warm welcome from Lynn and the lovely young lady who helps her. An enormous slice of cake and pot of tea was presented to me after I had made myself more socially acceptable and later on I enjoyed a Yorkshire pud with steak and kidney. My room was very comfortable, the lovely bathroom just outside. I didn't want to leave. I have promised my wife to take her up there for high tea soon - 'nuff said! Lynn Thornborrow is a great hostess. | |

| West Winds Cottage is charming, extremely clean and tidy everywhere which must be hard work when looking after "walkers" and the daily tea room visitors. Our room was small and adequate with loads of hot water for baths and radiators. Sound proof bedrooms in this old building added to privacy. We did not mind sharing the bathroom. Breakfast was served in the tea shop where you enjoy your own table set with hand embrodiered clothes and can soak up the authentic Dales building interior including an open fire. There was more than enough to eat and the home made victoria plum jam was delicious. Lyn is a delightful hostess. We will certainly return to West Winds when we visit Buckden again. | |
