Comments by walkers who stayed at Tog Hill House Farm in Cold Ashton on The Cotswold Way
Tog Hill House Farm was lovely (once we got there) and the lady running it was very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast too.

We somehow managed to miss the advice on this website to phone for directions from the path to the accommodation (obviously didn't read it properly), so walked straight down the main road at dusk in the rush-hour. We survived but it wasn't very safe - still no pavement!

Farm shop in Cold Ashton was fantastic for the evening meal. Good food, beer & wine, fun, sociable, good value. Went back to buy sarnies and cake the next day too.

I loved this place! The comments about the road are all accurate - the walk he was very muddy, our least favorite day on the walk. And. Would have ended with the scary road part but an extraordinary local actor, sir Ralph, picked us up at the farm pub where we had lunch (and we recommend the farm pub they were wonderful to us!) and drove us to tog hill! He was a saint - when we walked it the next day we were pretty terrified and so glad to get back on the Way!
Room was huge and beautiful and breakfast great!

A smart and stylish place a bit off route. Unfortunately we had to walk along the A420 to get there but it was not too bad. Next day was better when we headed south to rejoin the route. No evening meal so you generally eat at Folly Farm nearby and they give you a lift after the meal. We actually had a big lunch at Folly Farm instead.
Room was good and breakfast was excellent.

This place was challenging to reach via muddy paths and busy roads. Our room was very nice, though, and we found the hosts to be kind, offering us a ride to supper at the farm shop (charming!) AND dropping us back off at the Cotswold Way in the morning.

We stayed here in Sept 2007. It is a long mile wandering through several pastures to find this place. The highway is too dangerous to walk along. It is necessary to hire an expensive taxi to go to dinner. The reception was not very warm.

Stayed for one night. Were met with a cool reception.. they were not personable, or even polite. The room was large and clean, no complaints. But that road is indeed highly dangerous.. You can forget walking. There is positively nowhere to walk, the grass at the side of the main road is on a slope and the trucks roar past inches from your pack. The pub in Wick is not walking distance, we got a taxi (excellent local man with business cards in the reception area, very prompt and likeable). A lady we had met the day prior left a phone message for us, which we received the following morning at breakfast. No effort was made to slip it under our door the afternoon it had been received.

Wonderful place to stay. We stayed in Barn Cottage for 4 weeks in 2001 and are going back in May this year (2004) for another 4 weeks and have reserved the same cottage . Wonderful parking. Beautiful views and walk around the farm.
We would highly recommend this friendly accomodation to others.

Friendly and helpful host. The 3rd floor upper rooms are small with limited ceiling space. Call ahead to get directions through the fields, the highway is DANGEROUS!

Excellent bedrooms & a good breakfast.
However nearest pub ( & dinner ) is a mile away along a busy main road ( no footpath ) - Proprietors' should offer transport - we would all have willingly paid for such a service.

Fabulous place - approached along a dangerous main road without a footpath. (Directions through fields are available though). Excellent breakfast.
