Comments by walkers who stayed at Thwaite Cottage in Sedbergh on The Dales Way
Two of us stayed here in September 2012 whilst walking the Dales Way. After a long day's walk in poor weather from Cowgill, arrived to very friendly welcome and afternoon tea. After a quick shower and change, our hosts took to us to Sedbergh for a meal and picked us up afterwards (extra charge of 6). Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast admiring the views of the Howgills. Excellent value. Would love to stay again.

A great welcome after a days walk on the Dales Way. Lovely large comfortable room with ensuite. The evening meal, made by Janet, taking into consideration dietry requirements, was excellent, and the breakfast a perfect start to another days walking. All the family very friendly and welcoming.

Had a lovely stay here on Wednesday 14th July 2010. Dorothy put us in the cottage as there was no one booked in and we had a most comfortable nights stay with own kitchen and sitting room with a view to die for!!! Breakfast was served in the cottage and was lovely. Farmer Billy came in to have a chat as did Sally the dog.
Dorothy gave us a lift into Sedburg for an evening meal, we ate at the Dalesman which was lovely. A lovely spot in a beautiful part of the world. Have booked the cottage for a week in September, to explore the area and Howgill fells!!

Friendly welcome by farmer and his wife.
No evening meal but charge for journey into Sedbergh. If chosen as a place to stay make sure you get into Sedbergh by 7.30.p.m. as last orders for food are early and one of most popular pub/ restaurant provide special evenings e.g. Thai night which wasn't suited to our taste.

Provision of evening meal is favourable as one doesn't have to uproot again after arrival until the next day, especially after a long day's walk.

A real working farm with a great couple in charge!! Dorothy ran us to The Dalesman in Sedburgh for our evening meal as there are few places around to eat.Such a restfull location and just off the trail.A great place to stay.

A simply stunning location which was a real highlight of our walk. Sheep roam the fells and cows are milked on this working farm. Dorothy welcomed us with tea, scones and homemade jam. Bill kindly drove us for dinner at the excellent Dalesman in Sedburgh. The acommodation was cosy and comfortable with amazing views. Breakfast was superb - we didn't want to leave. Top recommendation.
