Comments by walkers who stayed at Thorney How in Grasmere on The Coast to Coast Path
We stayed in the B&B rooms (#2) which was comfortable and clean (June 2016). The bathroom was modern and the shower was especially terrific with a large shower head and great water pressure (really nice after a long day's walk). There are the cats, still - we thought it was a joke, but one tried to climb in through our open window. Nice stay, overall.

Forgot to add - beware of the cats. They will be removed from your room if they slip in but if you don't like cats this might not be the place for you. June 2015

Clean comfortable place to get a good nights sleep, cost is about the same as other B&Bs in Grasmere but they will probably provide towels and a cooked breakfast at no additional cost. The evening meal was good and tasty but nothing special and it would have been less costly to eat out. The place was quiet and ended up being the second most expensive accommodation of our Coast to Coast trip

Made very welcome on arrival. Comfortable family room & great showers, all very clean. Good value dinner & breakfast & well stocked bar. Will definitely stay here again!

Thorney How is a relaxing place to stay - just far enough from Grasmere village for quiet and seclusion, and near enough to be handy after a day on the fells or a night in the pub.
There is attention to detail throughout. Very clean and well cared for, and helpful staff. Movie night on a regular basis, and fantastic restaurant standard meals. Great garden to chill out in, with views of tomorrows walk!!
I highly recommend Thorney How.

Where we were there we were almost the only guests; we had the full package with dinner, room and packed lunch. There were not that many options for dinner, but on request they made a fantastic vegetarian dish with goat cheese. Very friendly staff. The only place were we had a fireplace in our room (the 2-person room).
In the evening and morning there are deer in the garden, just outside the window!

Super night in the bunk room, good facilities tv room drying room etc. They even put my boots through their boot dryer, nice touch! Just outside the village on a quiet track, don't miss the turn on the way down to the village though!

Located just outside of Gransmere. Great hostel, helpful, keen to please hosts, great dinner, bar. Amasing drying room! Would do it again in a minute.

Decent hostel, good value food and friendly staff. Only one shower per gender though so bit of a queue at 5 o'clock.
