Comments by walkers who stayed at The Peels Arms in Crowden on The Pennine Way
We didn't stay here but ate here, food was very good. We stayed at Wayside Cottage B & B which is just behind the pub and they booked a table for us as it does get busy (we stayed on a Saturday night).B & B very nice and reasonably priced at 65 - golf room with a freestanding bath. Huge packed lunch provided, would recommend B & B & pub for food.

Highly recommended! Owners very friendly and helpful, even offering lifts to and from Crowden if required (we declined of course!). Detour from the main Pennine Way route is at least along an old railway line, so very flat after a day in the hills. Food is excellent and portion sizes fit your appetite after a hard day's walking. Good choice of real ales too. Rooms very clean and recently decorated it seemed - and reasonably priced.

It's had new owners recently and I found it excellent when I stayed there last week. Very friendly, the rooms are pretty good and the food is fantastic. The packed lunch was the best I've ever had and included a sandwich, chocolate bar, cheese and biscuits and a punnet of fresh strawberries!

The staff were not friendly or helpful on initial arrival. After the trek from Crowden some 2.5 miles away, we needed a smiley face at least !! The meal was so late after ordering that we nearly died of malnutrition. Our friend from a B&B down the road had to wait 1.5 hours for a gammon steak-perhaps they needed to catch the pig from a nearby farm-who knows. The breakfast was also 45 minutes after ordering, this made us late in starting our second day. Not too good a time was spent here !
