We stayed here recently for one night having completed the St Cuthbert's Way. The Island's accommodation was full and this was the 6th place we tried. There was only one other couple staying and the reason we soon found out was that the hotel is overprised. The room was very comfortable and nicely renovated however the bathroom was tiny and needs upgrading for an establishment of this calibre. We were quoted 80pounds a night over the phone but when we came to pay were charged 95pounds. We would not stay here again.

When we stayed, the new owner had only been there three weeks and was not offering evening meals. the rooms were comfortable but needed updating. The owner is planning to completely update and improve the hotel. He was very friendly and helpful and I hope that his project is a success.

Sorry, present owners have only been there 3 or so years and have just sold the hotel. It will be run on a residents only basis.

The Lindisfarne has a nice bar area, and some of the food was quite good, such as the mussels, but overall it was a bit of a Fawlty Towers experience. Although Sherpa had booked us an ensuite room, clearly marked on the confirmation, they didn't have one to give us when we arrived. We had a smallish room on the top floor that seemed musty, as though it hadn't been used in a while. None of the lamps were plugged in, for example, the TV didn't work at all, and we had to go in search of ordinary black tea, as the only teas provided were herbal. One strange thing was that a sign in the window said the hotel had no rooms available, but it was obvious that the hotel was nowhere near full. There were no other occupants on the top floor, which was fine because that meant no competition for the hall bathroom, but it was a little strange. Contrary to the write-up here, they do not require dinner. We ate once in the hotel, which was ok, and the second night in a nearby pub, which was better.
