To reach The Cottage Inn you have to walk about a mile from the Northumberland Coastal Path at Craster. The motel type rooms attached to the pub are modern and comfortable. The restaurant was closed for refurbishment so we ate in the conservatory (you can also eat in the bar). The food was fine but the service was very slow; possibly due to kitchen problems caused by the refurbishment programme. The staff were pleasant but we found the attitude of the management to be fairly inhospitable. This was re-enforced by the many negative notices around the place setting out the rules that guests had to obey. Not a very congenial place to stay.
