Comments by walkers who stayed at The Blue Bell in Ingleby Cross on The Coast to Coast Path

We stayed in early May on our C2C journey. Steve is a good host. We arrived early and our rooms were not available until 4pm, so enjoyed hospitality in the bar for an hour or so. The rooms in the annex were cold to start with as we needed to switch the electric wall heater on ourselves on arrival. The rooms are basic and hanging facilities would be a welcome addition as there was no where to hang clothes. Luckily we were dry and by this stage well used to 'living out of the suitcase'. The bed was so comfortable and a good hot shower. A good breakfast served in the bar set us up well for the walk ahead as did the packed lunch. Enchanted and entertained by Steve's young daughter.

I arrived at the Blue Bell tired and sore - Steve was most considerate, not minding feet up, offering a bag of ice and helping with suitcase.
This is a friendly local with a great fire and good food. Breakfast was generous and very good.
The room was quite warm and comfortable; the bedding really nice.(clean white sheets, fluffy duvet etc.) They are in the process of renovating - I would visit again to see how it all went!
Steve came to my rescue when, due to a misunderstanding, I was unable to get a ride to Blakey after it became obvious I couldn't walk it. That kindness has become one the best stories of the C2C for me!

Friendly and a very welcoming owner - and our cases carried over to the annex, a real plus. Double room with sitting area, though furniture a little sparse and a little cold to start with (but weather cold too in May 2013). New owner last year so in the process of settling in/updating. Food was good, centre for other walkers on the C2C so sociable - and right on the route. Area manages to be quite peaceful between two busy roads.

Lovely bar food and warm fire in the pub. The room was quite cold though although it was unseasonally snowy!

We didn't stay here but this was my favourite pub on the C2C! Roaring fire, great food, and the best atmosphere by far. Real traditional pub.

We didn't stay here, only ate here. Very poor food. Took one hour and ten minutes to arrive and was very poor when it did arrive.

Enjoyed a good night here after the long slog across the Vale of Mowbray. Basic camping but you can't complain about free hot showers. Good food in the pub at night and for breakfast the next morning. Friendly owners too.
