Comments by walkers who stayed at Stork Hotel in Ennerdale Bridge on The Coast to Coast Path

We stayed the night of 7th May having arrived at Ennerdale Bridge. The lift was very prompt after the call from the Shepherd's Inn, just in time for another party who arrived as we were waiting outside. Bright clean room and good shower, nice to have a small bar after a hot day (yes there was one in May - that was it!), welcoming owners, good food with a wide range on the menu and lift back to Ennerdale in the morning. No problem at all in being slightly off route.

Friendly owners and very efficient and comfortable lifts to and from Ennerdale Bridge meant it did not matter that this was off route.

Spotless, modern and well appointed room. Good shower and comfortable bed. Our room was at the front, above the road. A tad noisy when we had window open (fair amount of traffic going past below), but excellent double-glazing so we couldn't hear traffic once window closed. No problems for us because it was cool and rainy, but if weather is warm and you like the window open, request a room at rear. Paul picked us up promptly after our call. Drop-off was fine in morning. It was no problem to stay slightly off route.

Stayed May 2012. Good family hotel / pub. Picked up and delivered to Ennerdale Bridge on time in a liveried minibus. Rooms we had were a bit small with all our kit, but OK. Good welcome. Beer and food very good. Would definitely stay again.

A comfortable stay, efficient service, good food and a nice selection of real ale. We were picked up from Ennerdale Bridge promptly and dropped off at the same venue to start the walk the next day. Would recommend this hotel to other people doing the C2C.

Stayed at the Stork Hotel in Mar 2011. Paul picked me up with no mishap - watch out though - there's limited mobile signal at Ennerdale Bridge, visit the pub and they'll let you use the phone. Food fantastic, power shower and comfy bed. Drop off the next morning was no bother. Almost didn't choose this hotel due to the need for a pick up - but worth it for the friendly stay and excellent food.

2nd time we have stayed on our C2C walks. Paul and Joan are great hosts and accommodation is fresh and clean. Good atmosphere in the pub and meals are a cut above the norm. No problem with pickup and dropoff. Would recommend and be happy to stay again.

I had a single room and my companions had a double at the stork during our coast to coast walk. The owners were friendly and the accommodation was comfortable and good quality (the shower was fantastic). We had our evening meal and breakfast and the food was really good....we would definitely use the hotel again.

Even though Paul had just driven into Ennerdale Bridge to pick up another couple of C2C'rs he happily returned for me and dropped me at the same spot the following morning at my convenience.

Although the single room was quite small, it had everything I needed and was comfortable. A good start to my C2C experience.

This is a good little hotel with spacious rooms. They collected us from Ennerdale Bridge and delivered us back there the next day. Food (dinner and breakfast) was excellent, as was the packed lunch. Lovely views of the fells from our bedroom window.

First stop on the way to completing the c2c (20th-28th March 2010).
A free-pick up and drop off service was provided, which is an absolute must!

The newly refurbished single bedroom although small was more than adequate. The evening meal was poor and I would only offer up a 4/10. The breakfast was better and I would award it 7/10.

The landlord did keep a good pint though, and we managed to neck 4 a piece.

A very good stay!
Big room with plenty of space for all gear, large well-equipped and spotless bathroom.

The pub & restaurant downstairs serve great food - even if the names look familiar, the cooking exceeds anything comparable along the trail. The pub has all your beer needs...

The hosts were very friendly - took us from the trail and back to Ennerdale water on the next morning and provided a crucial tip: walk the north shore when raining...

Please note that the hotel is situated far off the trail, well beyond what you'd be willing to walk. The hosts are fully aware and would pick you up from the trail.

Nothing but praise! A great small family run hotel providing a warm welcome. They picked us up from Ennerdale Bridge and returned us there the next morning. We arrived tired and soaked to the skin and they could not do enough to dry us and our boots out. Accommadation was compact, good and spotlessly clean. Dinner was home cooked and superb. We voted it the best meal of our 17 days c2c walk in September 2009. The breakfast was also wonderful. Joan cooked both meals so well. Packed lunch was generous. We hope to return and recommend this as the place to stop after the 1st days hard walking on the c2c.

Rooms small, you had to put your case on the bed to move around however very friendly hosts willing to put themselves out. Cosy little pub, would recommend

Stayed at The Stork with another couple during our C2C walk in September 08. Very comfortable and excellent hospitality from Paul and Joan. The meals were great. Our friend was unwell and couldn't eat her ordered meal and, remarkably and unexpectedly, wasn't charged for the meal. Sadly, she didn't realise it until we left and couldn't correct their generosity. Paul even offered to pick her up from Black Sail Hut if she couldn'y continue on from there. Fortunately, she came good! Well, worth the stay. Tim & Gayle. Wingham, Australia.
