Coast to Coast

Mile 161

Blakey Ridge

On a treeless moorland plateau at 400m/1,312 ft above sea level, Blakey is for most walkers the highest and most isolated overnight stop on the whole route. There are only two buildings at Blakey itself: one of them is a pub with some good accommodation as well a bar and restaurant. To find the Dale Head Farm Tea Garden at Rosedale Valley, walk down from The Lion Inn, Blakey and re-join the route, cutting off the road section you will find large pots of coffee and tea waiting, with sandwiches and homemade cakes.
