It is worth walking the Dales High Way just to stay at the Old Hill Inn between Ingleborough and Whernside. The food and ales, the welcome and the atmosphere, the people and the scenery are all fantastic. Can't wait to go back.

August 2011. Arrived off Ingleborough indecently early at the Inn, so had tea, coffee and home-made cake to while away the time. Hosts were very welcoming and opened up the back of the Inn (even though they were closed for the afternoon) so that we could spend a couple of hours sitting in the sun reading from an enormous selection of books and magazines, with Ingleborough as our view.

Comfy room, interesting and quirky bar interior, and simply fantastic food - as the main page describes, the place is run by chefs. Pricey, but I never mind as long as the price hike is warranted in the quality of the food - it was.

Breakfast service rather slow, which was a bit frustrating as we had a long way to go and the weather was set to deteriorate as the day went on, but this was forgiven by the arrival on table of a massive bowl of fresh berries and yogurt, plus an equally massive bowl of homemade fruit compote, along with everything else you would expect at breakfast.

The most pricey stay of the trip, but for all the right reasons. Recommended.

One of the most expensive places that we stayed at.There is little else in the way of accomodation nearby so you are somewhat limited in choice,However,Owners were very friendly and food and drink was excellent.Would certainly consider another stay at this pub.
