Comments by walkers who stayed at Hethpool House in Hethpool on St Cuthbert''s Way

An interesting house in a remote location. Very old fashioned feel to the place and the host and hostess. The food was very good and the vegetables and fruit were obviously very fresh, straight from the garden. They can provide a packed lunch for the next day, if you order it early enough, the price is not included for the stay.

What a fascinating place in a wonderfully remote and beautiful setting. Our room was enormous: lovely views, one of the best equipped on the route, with efficient heating which made it surprisingly cosy. Beds and duvets were of the best and the large thick towels very welcome.
We sat by a roaring fire (though April it was cold that evening) in the elegant sitting-room and Eildon cooked a delicious meal for us with a fantastic pudding of rod-gros which we liked so much that we asked for more at breakfast.
We appreciated the organic, whole-food: muesli, bread, homemade yogurt all excellent.

Note: Staying in early June and booked through Sherpa Van we paid 30 per night - not as quoted.

Beautiful and most remote part of the walk. Turret manor house with antique furniture. Friendly and welcoming. A most interesting stay in a lovely setting.
